Several programs allow those under 26 to receive a one-time aid of up to 500 euros. These aids come from national organizations (France Travail, Crous) as well as local authorities that develop their own programs. Understanding the eligibility conditions and the income ceilings associated with each program helps avoid missing out on a payment one is entitled to.
Common income conditions and eligibility criteria

Before detailing each aid, a point of vocabulary. The income ceiling refers to the net monthly income above which the application is automatically rejected. This ceiling varies depending on the program, but the principle remains the same: the organization examines the declared income (salary, internship, other allowances) over a recent period.

Age is the second filter. Most aids target those aged 16 to 25. Beyond 25, general programs like RSA or the activity bonus take over, which follow different rules.
The last cross-cutting criterion: registration with a support organization (France Travail, Mission locale, Crous) is almost always required. Without this prior registration, the application cannot be processed. To obtain financial aid for young people, the first step is therefore to check one’s affiliation with the correct structure.

One-time allowance from France Travail for 16-25 year-olds

France Travail (formerly Pôle Emploi) provides a one-time allowance to young people aged 16 to 25 who are registered with France Travail or in a Mission locale. This aid covers specific needs that hinder job searching: purchasing a phone, a tablet, or a transport subscription.
The income ceiling is set at 300 euros net per month, all income combined. Beyond that, the application is dismissed.
The allocation is not automatic. The advisor assesses the individual situation and the specific need before approving the payment. The application is made directly to the referring advisor, through the personal space or in a meeting.
What this aid does not cover
The one-time allowance does not finance rent or tuition fees. It targets identifiable material expenses related to professional integration. A young person who needs a computer for training can qualify, but not to pay an energy bill.
Mobility aid of 500 euros for scholarship high school students on Parcoursup
Scholarship high school students for the 2025-2026 academic year who accept a Parcoursup wish outside their home academy can apply for a one-time aid of 500 euros. The amount is fixed, with no tiers or modulation.
The application is made on messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr starting from early June 2026, and no later than January 15, 2027. The payment occurs after the registration is validated by the host institution, usually at the beginning of the academic year.
- Be a secondary school scholarship recipient in the year preceding entry into higher education
- Have definitively accepted a Parcoursup wish in an academy different from that of the home high school
- Submit the application on time on the messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr platform
This program is distinct from the Crous social criteria scholarship. The two aids are cumulative, which can provide significant support during a move for studies.
Local aids and regional passes for young people
Local authorities are multiplying programs in the form of “passes” or e-wallets aimed at young people. These aids cover various needs: sports, culture, driving licenses, vacations.
Paris Jeunes Vacances: up to 500 euros
The City of Paris offers a vacation aid to Parisian youth aged 16-25. The amount is 200 euros for a standard project and can reach 500 euros in vacation vouchers when the project includes an eco-citizen or solidarity dimension. The aid finances an independent departure, not a family trip.
Departmental and regional passes
Some departments offer comparable envelopes. Yvelines, for example, has set up a Pass Yvelines for the youth of the department. The content and amounts of these passes vary greatly from one territory to another.
- Check the website of your departmental or regional council to identify ongoing programs
- Consult the local CAF, which sometimes lists partner financial aids in its territory
- Inquire with the Mission locale, which directs towards programs suited to the applicant’s profile
Specific one-time aid from Crous for students in difficulty
Crous provides a specific one-time aid to students facing temporary financial difficulties. This aid is distinct from the social criteria scholarship: it responds to an emergency situation (loss of student job, family breakdown, unexpected expense).
The application is submitted to the social service of Crous. A social worker reviews the file and assesses the situation before proposing an amount. The aid can be granted multiple times a year if justified, but each payment is subject to a new evaluation.
This program is cumulative with other aids (APL, social criteria scholarship). The accumulation does not automatically lead to a reduction in the amount granted by Crous.
The aid calendar evolves each year, and local envelopes depend on budgets voted by the authorities. The most reliable approach remains to contact the relevant organization directly (France Travail, Crous, Mission locale, town hall) with a recent proof of situation. A complete file upon the first submission speeds up processing and reduces the risk of rejection due to missing documents.
